Welcome!

Welcome to my blog - it's like a diary only better. This is my soapbox containing a collection of my thoughts and the experiences of my life raising twins.

Prior to this blog, prior to marriage and prior to the twinsanity that I now call my life, life was quite different for me. When you visit this blog, you won’t find me writing much about my life pre-twins – I hope that’s okay. Why? You ask. Because life with twins changes everything and my life pre-multiples is now just a dizzy, distant memory. And while it’s true that life years ago may have been a little more glamorous, the life I live now is a whole lot more rewarding and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I’m glad you’ve stopped by...there’s a really strong chance that I won’t offer anything extraordinary here, but by the same token there is also the possibility that you will experience a taste of the adventures, challenges and many joys that come with my life with twins. Hopefully that will be enough to bring you back here again.

VA Vacation - 9mm Stuff

Okay, so this day was all about the adults...no twin toddlers allowed (for obvious reasons). My older brother, a former law enforcement officer for 10+ years and now a government contractor, took Mike and me to do a little target shooting. I know, how crazy is that, me getting hands-on with a 9mm handgun?!

We traveled to some private property consisting of several acres that my folks own, out in the middle of nowhere, to do a little shooting with a 9mm handgun. As some of you already know, I had successfully passed and obtained my California Handgun Safety Certificate a few months ago and my husband is in the process of studying for his California certificate, and so we both had an interest in spending some time with my older brother, who is not only proficient with a variety of guns but also astute at gun safety and proper handling/usage, to get some hands-on experience and practice.

My older brother giving me a few pointers on handling the gun, overall gun safety as well as getting familiar with the gun components.

A few final pieces of advice from my brother: bend slightly at the knees, lean forward in an assertive posture, keep your trigger finger on the "safety" until ready to fire, then gently squeeeeeeze the trigger.

And, I fire, then again, and a few more times.

Mike's turn to get the same few pointers, plus the same key pieces of advice for safe handling and safe firing.

Mike takes aim.

And, look at that smoke from the barrel...Mike's a natural.

My older brother, yeah, he knows what he's doing and he made a great teacher that day for Mike and me who are just a couple novices with guns.
