Welcome!

Welcome to my blog - it's like a diary only better. This is my soapbox containing a collection of my thoughts and the experiences of my life raising twins.

Prior to this blog, prior to marriage and prior to the twinsanity that I now call my life, life was quite different for me. When you visit this blog, you won’t find me writing much about my life pre-twins – I hope that’s okay. Why? You ask. Because life with twins changes everything and my life pre-multiples is now just a dizzy, distant memory. And while it’s true that life years ago may have been a little more glamorous, the life I live now is a whole lot more rewarding and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I’m glad you’ve stopped by...there’s a really strong chance that I won’t offer anything extraordinary here, but by the same token there is also the possibility that you will experience a taste of the adventures, challenges and many joys that come with my life with twins. Hopefully that will be enough to bring you back here again.

From Small Beginnings

Born 7 weeks premature on Sunday, December 11, 2005 - Taylor Mackenzie, weighing 4 lbs, 8 oz, and Paige Trinity, weighing 3 lbs, 0 oz - our daughters are living proof that thanks to many prayers from near and distant family and friends, new breakthroughs in medicine, advances in research and the dedication of doctors, miracles do happen to the tiniest of babies.

Taylor and Paige “co-bedding” in the isolette at the hospital nursery.

Born too soon, both girls spent some time in the hospital’s NICU nursery immediately following delivery.

Taylor in the NICU

Taylor experienced respiratory distress requiring assisted ventilation for 3 days, continuous positive airway pressure for 3 days and supplemental oxygen for 8 days. During her stay at the NICU nursery, Taylor was also treated for jaundice. She was discharged from the hospital nursery at 23 days old.

Paige in the NICU

Paige’s stay in the hospital NICU nursery was fairly benign with treatment for jaundice and difficulties feeding due to acid reflux for which she was placed on medication. She was discharged from the hospital nursery at 45 days old.

As we reflect over the early arrivals of Taylor and Paige, their stay in the hospital NICU nursery and the months that followed, we know we have been truly blessed!
